EXHIBITION

Art and Wellbeing is an exhibition that explores the profound connections between artistic expression, the creative process, and human wellbeing. Inspired by the conference theme Repetition and Return, the exhibition approaches art as a space of introspection, memory, ritual, and transformation—a place where personal experiences are revisited, reimagined, and given new meaning through visual language.

Curated by Božica Dea Matasić, the exhibition brings together the work of Croatian artist-art therapists who are professors, students, or alumni of the Postgraduate Specialist Study Programme in Creative Therapies, Art Therapy Major at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, and members of the Croatian Art Therapy Association (HART). Through diverse artistic approaches and media, the exhibited works reflect on themes of identity, mental health, resilience, belonging, memory, and the cyclical nature of personal and collective experience.

Presented within the framework of the Art and Wellbeing project, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the NPOO programme, the exhibition highlights the vital role of creativity in fostering emotional and psychological wellbeing. The selected artworks reveal how artistic practice can support self-regulation, empathy, connection, and personal growth, while opening spaces for dialogue between individual experience and shared cultural narratives.

This will take place in the Gallery Space on the 2nd floor, Istrian National Theatre
