Abstract: In the theoretical part the term of helping with art – arts therapies - is defined and put into the psychosocial rehabilitation context. The phenomenon of the creativity and the meaning of body activity and artistic expression are briefly summarised. The theoretical basis defines the traumatic brain injury problem, components of motor and process functioning of an individual followed by functional brain reorganisation after the injury. 10 persons in the age from 23 till 56 participated in the study. The client that is presented in the case study participated in twenty sessions. The study was conducted using the action research model. The therapeutic process conducted by the researcher who combined the traditional occupational therapy approach with arts therapies was dynamic, including several techniques – the modified LMA assessment according to Laban movement analysis (Laban R., 1998) and Emerging Body Language movement analysis methodology (Rutten-Saris M., 1992) and the modified observational quality of movement assessment scale (Guthrie J., 1999). Many other standardised therapeutic instruments were also included in the research.The research findings showed that arts therapy leads to the improvement of an individual in the areas of productive functioning, restoration of personal characteristics, reality awareness and acceptance. It also encourage insight, independence, creativity, and the opening of artistic productivity.
