Abstract: The thesis is discussing the stimulation of creativity and social skills by means of creative movement and dance with moderately mentally ill individuals.The theoretical part presents Arts Therapy with the emphasis on movement and dance therapy with severely and moderately mentally ill individuals. Specifically, creativity and stimulation of creativity through movement as well as the use of creative movement and dance within the educational process of severely and moderately mentally ill individuals are presented.Using the method of creative movement and dance, I wanted to examine the progress of creative thinking of severely and moderately mentally ill individuals, the frequency of desired movement and dance activity, their experience of success and contentment and development in their social skills.The content and aims of each movement and dance activity as well as the analysis of each session are described in detail. The development of social skills, the desired movement and dance activity and the creativity in movement and dance are presented by means of tables and graphs. The qualitative analysis of 22 sessions and the quantitative analysis of the applied tests showed that the method of creative movement and dance had a positive influence on the development of social skills, creative thinking and experiencing of success and contentment by severely and moderately mentally ill individuals.
