Abstract: In my work I deal with the reactions of individuals and the group during art activity. I study self realisation, creativity and communication between an individual and a group. The theoretical part is dedicated to the thoughts of experts who have been dealing with creativity, self actualisation and art therapy. I conclude that with the help of expert organised group creativity one can greatly influence the process of self actualisation in individuals. This is the reason for researching the role of using art as a method and support in the development of an individual. The influence of art on individuals and the group is discovered with the help of a questionnaire developed for the purpose of this study, planned observation and notes of creator’s thoughts, and reactions of participants in the form of essays or interviews. The questionnaire was created to asses the influence of art on the individual and group. I take into consideration the meaning given to each activity and try to discover how an individual is becoming self-actualized, why one chooses a certain activity, and in what way one functions in a group. The methodological part is represented by the answers of 50 individuals in 5 groups: youngsters and their educators from the Educational Institution Visnja gora, participants and experts of the Association for Rehabilitation of Cerebral Paralysis Soncek, and members of the Drama Club Visnja Gora. I can conclude that creativity through art contributes to the individual’s social integration. Moreover, it can result in better communicative and listening skills, greater respect for the differences, needs and customs of others and above all better self-esteem. The participants research their possibilities, skills and habits and discover new abilities. The techniques can stop the undesired behaviour patterns and influence the quality of the final creation. The use of art leads to positive thinking and encourages participants to discover their needs for self actualisation and to create an appropriate life plan.
