Keywords: Art therapy, Trauma, Creative psyche, Complex post-traumatic stress disorder.

A reflection on Art Therapy intervention and research will be presented in this paper. This research has been developed during 15 years in psychiatric field with patients with severe mental illness, aged 18 to 65 years olds. The paper will focus particularly on the spectrum of severe personality disorders and affective disorders with a focus on the traumatic, understanding this as highly significant in mental illness through the population studied.

The attended population presents difficulties in the structuring of the self, mostly with Insecure or Disorganized Attachment Disorder resulting from sequences of abuse and prolonged child abuse throughout their evolutionary development. Therefore, the paper will focus on understanding the position of the creative psyche in the cases of complex trauma that have led to a learned helplessness.

The prolonged observation and the research have led to the development of a specific methodology for the Art Therapy intervention, which will be presented together with clinical cases that bring light to show their potential and a development of the position of the creative psyche.

This paper is linked to the exhibition that will be shown during the Conference.

Arteterapia, Trauma, Psiquismo creador, TEPT Complejo
